Who is it written for? The Blokes Book of Cooking is for guys (and gals too for that matter) who have never cooked before. It would make a great gift for those sons who are leaving home, for partners who are no great shakes in the kitchen, fiancés, ex-husbands who have to cook for the kids or just for friends. It's not an ordinary book on cooking. While most cookbooks seem to be written for people whose mothers trained them from the cradle in the basics, or maybe cooking was just genetically encoded, this book is for those who have never really paid much attention to the kitchen before. There are recipes to aid you, but this book is also about HOW you cook. How do you boil, scramble, poach or fry an egg? How do you grill, fry or barbecue a sausage or a chop? How do you cut veggies for a salad? How do you boil, mash, or bake a potato? How do you cook pasta? How do you cook...? What do you need in the way of equipment and supplies to set yourself up in the kitchen for the first time? How do you set a table if you've got a hot date and want to make a good impression, or if you're one of those partners or fiancés who want to make a romantic dinner for two (you get lots of brownie points for that one!)?
